Wines of Uruguay 2nd Annual U.S. Trade Tour
Sixteen member wineries of Wines of Uruguay (WoU), an association focused on international export and committed to promoting the quality and image of Uruguayan wine throughout the world, will pour many of their finest wines in a 3-city U.S. trade tasting tour in Chicago, Boston and Ft. Lauderdale in September. Each winery will pour up to five wines with an emphasis on Uruguay’s signature variety, Tannat. The events, which are reserved for members of the trade and press, will begin with a seminar on the regional diversity of Uruguayan wines presented by noted wine educator and speaker Gilles de Chambure, MS and will conclude with a walk-around tasting.

The U.S. and Canada are Uruguay’s largest export markets after Brazil. With more Tannat grown in Uruguay than the rest of the world combined, Tannat is Uruguay’s signature variety. Uruguayan wineries have also found success with Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Albariño and Viognier.
