Graton, CA – Celebrating the world’s most popular grape variety, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma County-based Avalon Winery has debuted a sleek new wine and package design for its 2012 California AVA designated Cabernet Sauvignon, known as CAB. Sourced from grapes grown in selected vineyards throughout California (including Napa Valley, Lodi, Paso Robles and Monterey County), the 2012 Avalon CAB  is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Syrah, 7% Zinfandel and 4% Merlot. Its annual production is 245,000 cases.
At a suggested retail price of $12, Avalon CAB is positioned as the ‘go-to CAB’ for any and all occasions. Avalon has been a respected wine brand for many years and continues to bring delectable, quality-driven wines with great value. The screened on design carries forward the traditional Avalon logo but presents a more bold, arresting look and reflects the new name of the brand, CAB. Schy Design created the newpackage.
The 2012 Avalon CAB was aged for eight months in a combination of French and American Oak barrels. On the nose, the wine gives bright, vibrant aromas of blueberry jam, strawberry tart, and boysenberries with hints of vanilla and toasted oak. On thepalate, it gives a hint of spice that is followed byrich black cherries, red raspberries, and juicy ripe plums on the long, smooth finish. Its silky tannins and ripe fruit flavor profile makes it a versatile pairing with a wide range of cuisines.
In addition to the 2012 Avalon CAB, Avalon Winery will also be releasing their 2012 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Produced from grapes grown in selected Napa sub-appellations (Rutherford AVA, Atlas Peak AVA, Chiles Valley District AVA, Coombsville AVA), this wine has a suggested retail price of $20. It shows excellent structure and elegance with a smooth, lingering finish.
Both of Avalon’s new releases will be available nationwide at fine dining establishments as well as fine wine retailers.
