Background
The Company
Cameron Hughes Wine (CHW) is a knowledgeable, customer-driven company
whose mission is to provide super premium wines at value prices.
Cameron Hughes, a wine industry veteran, founded the company November
2001.
The Lot idea and model
While in wine sales, Cameron encountered an interesting problem
of many high end winemakersa surplus of their finished wine,
extra barrels of the wine that did not fit into the winery's production
plan. Seeing this winery dilemma Cameron developed the "lot"
wine brand.
Based on the same model as Two-Buck Chuck, Cameron Hughes wines
are made from lots of bulk wine. But unlike the Charles Shaw brand,
CHW purchases ultra-premium bulk wine from small winery lots, which
are then bottled under the Cameron Hughes label. It's like a treasure
hunt - Cameron does the work for the customer, hunts down the
best juice and because of his lean business model, passes the savings
direct to the customer.
Virtual Winery
How does it work? CH wine acts as a virtual winery or negociant
(wine merchant). The company utilizes direct distribution methods
to deliver the best value in wine to retailers and customers. By
eliminating overhead mark ups from wineries and wholesalers, the
customer buys the wine at a "best value" price. What would
typically be a $50 bottle of wine is sold for less than $10 bottle
under the CHW label.
From everyday drinkers to serious collectors, CH wine brings extreme
wine values to wine customers everywhere.
